Questions

Everything people ask us.

Booking, paying, seats, refunds and the card — answered as they actually work, including the parts that are not entirely in our hands.

Before you book

01Do I need an account to book?

You can browse departures without one. To hold a seat and receive a ticket you need an account, because the ticket has to belong to somebody and reach a phone number.

02Which agencies are on Tiketza?

Every agency that has applied and been approved. Search a route rather than a company — the results show each agency running it that day, with the real departure times and how many seats are left.

03What does "fill & go" mean?

Some routes leave when the bus fills rather than at a fixed time. Booking one buys you a seat on the next bus to depart on that route. The app shows how full it is, so you can judge when to leave home.

04Can I book for someone else?

Yes, and it is common. Enter their name, phone and identity document as the passenger. The ticket travels with them; you can still see it in your account.

05How far ahead can I book?

As far ahead as the agency has scheduled departures. That is one of the differences from a counter, where you generally cannot buy more than a day or two in advance.

Seats and tickets

01Can I choose my seat?

On the trips where the agency offers it, yes — the app draws the real cabin, with the rows, aisle and doors the bus actually has, and holds your choice while you pay. It is the agency’s decision per trip, not a rule about the class of bus: some VIP departures have no seat choice and some classic ones do. Where it is not offered, the seat is assigned as it is at the counter.

02How long is my seat held while I pay?

Ten minutes. If payment has not completed by then the seat goes back on sale, so nobody is blocked out by an abandoned checkout.

03Where does my ticket go?

Into the app straight away, and to WhatsApp as a message and a PDF where we have your number. The PDF works offline, which matters at a gate with no signal.

04I did not get the WhatsApp message.

The ticket is always in the app under your bookings, so you can still travel. WhatsApp delivery depends on your number being reachable there. Contact support if it keeps happening.

05What is an open return?

A return with no date yet. Important: no seat is reserved on the way back until you choose the date. Pick it as early as you can, especially at peak periods.

Paying

01How can I pay?

MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money, bank card, your Tiketza membership balance, or cash at an agency counter.

02Is the price higher than at the counter?

The fare is set by the agency and is the fare they charge. Any Tiketza service fee is shown to you before you pay, never added afterwards.

03My balance does not cover the whole fare.

Then it pays what it can and you settle the rest by Mobile Money, card or cash. We work out the split on the server; you are never asked to calculate it.

04Money left my account but I have no ticket.

Do not pay again. Check your bookings first — a slow confirmation is more common than a failed one. If it is still missing, contact support with the payment reference and we will trace it.

Changes and refunds

01Can I get a refund?

Refund policies belong to the agency, not to Tiketza, and they differ between agencies. We process a refund once the agency approves it — we cannot approve one on their behalf. Check the agency policy before you book if this matters to you.

02Can I move to a different bus?

Up to 30 minutes before departure. After that the manifest is with the driver and the seat cannot be moved.

03The agency cancelled my trip.

You are entitled to a refund or a seat on another departure. Contact the agency, or contact us and we will pursue it with them.

The Tiketza card

01What is the membership card?

A prepaid NFC card carrying your balance, your points and your trip history. Tap it at the counter instead of counting out cash, or show your member code if you do not have the card with you.

02How do I get one?

Order it from the app. Tiketza writes it onto the membership you already have, so your balance, points and trips are on it from the first tap. A card fee may apply.

03How do I top it up?

From the app with a bank card, or at any agency counter.

04Can I take the money back out?

The balance is prepaid credit for travel. It is not a bank account and is not redeemable for cash, other than by withdrawal at a counter where the agency allows it.

05I lost my card.

Block it from the app immediately. Until it is blocked, taps made with it may count as yours. Your balance and points live on your membership, not only on the plastic, so they survive a replacement.

06How do the tiers work?

Points are earned on trips travelled and move you through Silver, Gold and Diamond. Points have no cash value.

Privacy and your account

01Why do you need my ID number?

Cameroonian transport rules require a passenger manifest carrying identity details. Names, phone numbers and document numbers are encrypted in our database rather than stored as readable text.

02What happens when I scan my ID?

The photograph is sent to a third-party AI service that reads the name and number off it and returns them. We do not keep the photograph. If you would rather it did not leave our servers, type the details in by hand — scanning is only a convenience.

03What is location sharing?

An optional switch that lets your agency see where your bus is, using your phone, because the buses carry no tracker. It is off unless you turn it on, it only works on a trip you have booked, and turning it off deletes the positions already shared.

04How do I delete my account?

In the app under Account, or by requesting it on our deletion page if you can no longer sign in. Spend or withdraw any card balance first, and travel or cancel any ticket you have paid for.

05Does deleting my account erase my bookings?

No, and we would rather say so plainly. Your personal details are removed, but past bookings and payments remain as the agency’s sales records, which it is required to keep. They stay without your name attached.

Still stuck?

Live chat in the app reaches a person, and you can send a photo of whatever is going wrong. Or email support@tiketza.com.
